Connecting with other entrepreneurs is an important part of growing your entrepreneurial network. The more people you know, the more resources you have to turn to when it comes to your startup. Want to connect with other entrepreneurs? Here are four tips that will get you started.

Join an Entrepreneurial Organization

Entrepreneurial organizations are a great way to connect with entrepreneurs that have a similar experience level to you. You can bounce ideas off of one another, and talk about the problems you’ve faced and how to overcome them. There are organizations for entrepreneurs of all skill levels, from beginners to experts.

If you’re new to the world of entrepreneurship, or if you’re a solo entrepreneur, check out organizations like Business Network International. For more experienced entrepreneurs under the age of 45, look into YEC. There are many entrepreneurial networks out there, so do your research and find out which ones are best for you in the current stage of your startup.

Join a Coworking Space

When people think of working in a public space, they often resort to local coffee shops or restaurants—but how much networking really goes on in these spaces?

Coworking spaces are shared workspaces that offer memberships or daily passes for professionals to use their facilities and resources. Companies such as WeWork, Industrious, and The Yard offer a number of co-working spaces across the country.

Unlike a typical office or your favorite local coffee shop, coworking spaces actively nurture the entrepreneurial community. They provide areas for entrepreneurs to collaborate and often host other events such as workshops, guest speakers, and networking opportunities.

Plan Meetup Events in Your Area

One of the best ways to meet other entrepreneurs is by attending meetup events near you. However, planning these events yourself takes this one step further. By planning meetup events yourself, you become the common denominator between everyone that attends the event. You’ll be connecting with every event attendee, which helps grow your network exponentially.

You could host a variety of events, from simple meetups to large-scale presentations related to business and entrepreneurship. It’s best to start small, and plan larger events once you’ve had a bit of practice.

You’ll also be able to maintain your connections by planning events every few months. Through planning these events and keeping in regular contact with the entrepreneurs you meet, you’ll quickly find yourself growing a large and valuable entrepreneurial network.

Join an Accelerator

Joining a startup accelerator will connect you with other entrepreneurs, provide you with valuable guidance, and create a space to build strong relationships. These programs are dedicated to promoting entrepreneur connections while helping grow your startup.

While accelerator programs can be great, they may not be the right choice for you and your business. Keep in mind that accelerators may be interested in taking some of your company equity if you join. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons of joining an accelerator and do proper research to ensure you’re making the best decision for your startup.
